Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry reported on Tuesday that it has detected cases of Influenza A H3N2 in Osh city in the south of the Central Asian country. Laboratory test results showed several patients in the city were influenza A H3N2 positive, the Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision Department of the ministry said. The disease is seasonal and is registered annually in the country, the ministry added. Masdar and EDF have agreed with the Kyrgyz Republic to investigate the potential development of 3.6GW of hydropower and renewable energy projects. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at COP28 in Dubai, involving key representatives from the Kyrgyz Ministry of Energy, Masdar and EDF. Incorporating hydropower into its portfolio for the first time, Masdar aims to contribute to the Kyrgyz Republic’s existing clean energy capacity, which predominantly relies on hydropower plants. The World Health Organization (WHO) is ready to collaborate with Kyrgyzstan in digitization regarding the healthcare sector, Hans Kluge, Director of the WHO’s European Regional Office, said, Trend reports. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov on Monday agreed to cooperate in maintaining and strengthening the free and open international order based on the rule of law. The number of Visa cards in circulation in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, increased during the second quarter of 2023, Trend reports. The total number of Visa cards in Bishkek reached 1,916,950 as of June 30, 2023, which represents a 14 percent increase compared to the end of March 2023 – 1,680,953 cards. Kazakhstan China is expanding its media footprint in Kazakhstan, as Beijing strives to ensure favorable coverage of its regional economic and diplomatic activities. The Kazakh media holding company Atameken Business recently announced the signing of an information-sharing memorandum with the China Media Group (CMG), a state-controlled entity also known as the VoiceofChina.
