In thousands of households today, parents are grappling with the concern of how to provide for their children, said President Sadyr Japarov in his video address at the 2023 National Development Forum on Poverty and Inequality in Kyrgyzstan.
“Tens of thousands of our talented youth cannot find employment. I pray that our people live better. Therefore, I emphasize that the elimination of poverty and inequality in Kyrgyzstan should be the top priority of the state’s entire economic, financial, and social policies. The National Development Forum should serve as a catalyst for accelerating measures to reduce poverty and inequality,” he said.
The President noted that he instructs all government agencies to focus their efforts on opening new businesses, renovating old factories, expanding small enterprises, repairing roads, and completing hundreds of construction projects to improve the people’s lives.
“We can affirm that over the past three years, Kyrgyzstan has witnessed a growth in state revenues, the launch of ambitious programs, and significant achievements in industrial development and the attraction of international investments. If, in 2020, our GDP stood at 639 billion soms, then by 2024, our economy is projected to reach a size of 1.258 trillion soms. This means doubling the GDP within a span of three years,” declared the President.
He emphasized that the prosperity of the entire Kyrgyz nation is his ultimate goal.
“This is the task I set before the entire system of state power. Improving the living standards of the population, overcoming poverty and inequality in Kyrgyzstan should be the top priority of the state’s entire economic, financial, and social policies. The event format involving state leadership, international and national experts will not only allow us to review national progress in achieving development goals but also share experiences, discuss new ideas, and determine the best policy measures aimed at reducing poverty,” said Japarov.
He noted that all government authorities should take measures to promote employment by creating new jobs, strengthening active employment measures, increasing wages, ensuring the payment of pensions and allowances, as well as other social payments to the poor and socially vulnerable segments of the population.
