A chamber of commerce from Kyrgyzstan has reportedly established a presence in Macau through a local business group associated with Shandong province, Macao Daily News reported.
According to the media outlet, the Kyrgyzstani business organisation inked an agreement late last week with the group to formalise the set-up of the office in Macau, which also handles affairs associated with Hong Kong.

The media outlet described the new establishment as “the first official representative office established by the Central Asian region in the two SARs”.
The establishment of the office is a result of a recent trip to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia by a Shandong delegation led by Lin Wu, the secretary of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China.
During the journey that took place between 2 and 9 September, Lin was reported to have attended a One Belt One Road exchange session in Uzbekistan where he championed closer ties among Hong Kong, Macau and Central Asia.
While in Kyrgyzstan, its president Sadyr Japarov reportedly met with the Chinese delegation.
Japarov expressed hopes for investment from Macau in the landlocked Central Asian country.
It was reported that both sides also explored visa arrangements with the aim of promoting deeper cooperation in commerce and trade.
In addition, a separate exchange event also took place there, with Temir Sariyev, a former prime minister of Kyrgyzstan who heads the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, providing his blessing for the establishment of the office.
