12 fires were recorded in Kyrgyzstan in past 24 hours, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on May 22. 17 fire brigades were involved in extinguishing them. 3 fires were registered in Chui, Batken, Jalal-Abad regions, and 1 each in Osh city, Osh and Naryn regions. Dry grass burned on an area of 60 hectares in Ak-Aryk village of Leilek district. A major fire occurred in Osh, during which a canteen and a billiard club burned down. Kyrgyz lawmakers have approved in the initial reading on January 19 a bill that would oblige all state entities, local self-governing bodies, enterprises, institutions, and organizations, regardless of the type of ownership, to use Kyrgyz only as their working language.
