Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev named joint productions which Belarus and Kyrgyzstan could set up as he spoke during the meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation on 24 August, BelTA has learned.
According to him, there is a great untapped potential for cooperation in industry. “The leadership of our countries has repeatedly emphasized the need to create conditions for the development of industrial cooperation and implementation of new infrastructure projects. I would like to emphasize the importance of the working groups on industry, transportation and logistics, which were set up as a result of our yesterday’s negotiations. Kyrgyzstan can offer all the necessary conditions to establish joint cooperative industrial enterprises. Mechanisms of special investment contracts have been developed for the Industrial Development Fund, including subsidiary support measures aimed at attracting private investment in industry. Export support infrastructure has been developed as well,” Bakyt Torobaev said.
The foundation for any production is mineral and raw material reserves. “More than 100 raw material products are concentrated in Kyrgyzstan, which makes it possible to open enterprises with a high level of localization. The country is rich in titanium, gold, copper, antimony, tin and other minerals,” the deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers said. He also mentioned the reserves of tungsten and silicon, uranium, fuel and energy raw materials. There are prospects for launching iron mining.
“Kyrgyzstan is ready to work with Belarus to exchange technologies and experience, organize joint productions and create a large number of jobs in petrochemicals. The country has a great need in upgrading the existing plants and setting up new ones to make products from crude oil,” Bakyt Torobaev added.
He also mentioned prospects in metallurgy. “There is a great potential for the development of a silicon cluster, production of polysilicon for electronics, production of microcircuits. The construction of a plant to produce mineral fertilizers is also considered a promising project. There are also prospects for the production of rare earth metals,” the deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers said.
“I also suggest setting up a textile cluster. There are also prospects for a project to process leather and wool. I also suggest setting up a cluster to produce bottled water with the prospect of exporting it. I invite our Belarusian friends to implement joint projects,” Bakyt Torobaev said.
